When an ICES team enters a new system, an ERAND is left in standby mode near the entrance wormhole. If something happens to the team, it will automatically make the jump back through the wormhole in order to report back to ICES. An ICES team can also tell the drone to make the jump if they need assistance. The drones are heavily cloaked and have almost no emissions when in standby mode.<br />
