The Capella system is a quadruple star system in the Celestial Lance Universe: Capella Aa, Capella Ab, Capella H, and Capella L. The system is approximately 49 light years from the Sol system through normal space. The massive Capella Shipyards are located in the H/L subsystem at the H3-Capella Lagrange Point.

Specifications

The Capella system contains two sets of binary stars.

Cappella Aa and Ab orbit each other at an average distance of about 100 million kilometers approximately every 104 Earth days. Capella Aa is approximately 2.5 times the mass of Sol. It is a yellow giant moving toward becoming a red clump star. Capella Ab is approximately 2.4 times the mass of Sol. It is a yellow subgiant moving toward becoming a red giant. Neither Aa nor Ab is on the main sequence.

Capella H/L (together) orbit Capella Aa/Ab at an approximate distance of 10,000 AU (about 1.5 trillion kilometers). They orbit each other at an average distance of about 230 million kilometers approximately every 573 Earth days. Bothe Capella H and L are red dwarf stars still on the main sequence.

Other names

The Capella system is also known as:

  • α Aurigae system (Alpha Aurigae)
  • 13 Aurigae (Thirteen Aurigae)
  • ADS 3841
  • CCDM J05168+4559
  • WDS J05167+4600
  • GJ 194 (Capella Aa/Ab)
  • GJ 195 (Capella H/L)
  • In Chinese astronomy, 五車二 (Wŭ chē èr), meaning second of five chariots.
  • Colça (Quechua)

Planets

Capella Aa/Ab planets

Planets are listed from closest to the stars moving outward. The planets orbit a point approximately centered between Aa and Ab. The asteroid belt is located between planets A3 and A4.

  • Capella A1 – gas giant
  • Capella A2 – ice giant
  • Capella A3 – ice giant
  • Capella A4 – rocky

Capella H/L planets

Planets are listed from closest to the stars moving outward. The planets orbit a point approximately centered between H and L. The asteroid belt is located between planets H3 and H4.

  • Capella H1 – rocky
  • Capella H2 – rocky
  • Capella H3 – rocky
  • Capella H4 – ice giant
  • Capella H5 – ice giant
  • Capella H6 – ice giant
  • Capella H7 – rocky

Wormholes

The Capella system has the following wormholes. Wormholes 1 and 2 are in the Capella Aa/Ab system, and wormholes 3 and 4 are in the Capella H/L system.

  1. Lǜxīng (1) –
  2. Sol (1) –
  3. Barnard's Star (1) –
