One of Adele Watabe's ancestors was one of the first to "ply the stars" as an explorer. Many of the first interstellar explorers were of Polynesian ancestry because they wanted to continue the history of traveling and exploring by the stars.

Adele discovers the station in 4056. Her first three stories are set then and shortly thereafter.

The main stories are set beginning in 4256.
