This is a glossary of terms unique to the Celestial Lance Universe, as well as other helpful terms that come up in various stories.

Directional terms

Above
See upward, below.
Aspinward
In the opposite direction as the galaxy spins.
Below
See downward, below.
Coreward
Toward the galactic core.
Downward
Moving below the galactic plane on the side of Alpha Gruis/Alnair.
Edgeward
See rimward, below.
Rimward
Toward the edge of the galaxy.
Spinward
In the same direction as the galaxy is spinning.
Upward
Moving above the galactic plane on the side of Polaris.

General terms

Anchor
Describes the location at the far end of a wormhole where a Kovel jump drive anchors itself before pulling (slingshotting) itself through the wormhole.
Dead end
A star system with only one wormhole node. Examples include the Hana-ka-lau-‘ai system. See Category:Dead ends.
Dragon
A common nickname for Starkind
Goldilocks
A star system with at least one planet within the "Goldilocks" zone, the area where water is in liquid form. Also known as the circumstellar habitable zone or simply habitable zone. See Wikipedia for more details.
Hub
A star system with at least two wormhole nodes. Most star systems with wormholes have more than one.
Insystem
Within a given star system. The opposite of outsystem.
Node
A wormhole opening. This is where ships enter and exit the wormhole.
Orphan
A star system with no known wormholes. See Category:Orphans.
Outsystem
Outside a given star system. The opposite of insystem.
Sphereship
A spheroid (either globular or oblong) ship, originally of Halfen design. Diameters range from small shuttles such as Chosu Nomh (8 meters) to very large ships such as Hikianalia (1000 meters).
Superhub
A star system containing more than ten wormhole nodes. Examples include Arcturus and Sol. See Category:Superhubs.
