Ohlakhira Shufteim

Ohlakhira Shufteim, pronounced "Ohlah-keerah Shoof-taiym" and often abbreviated as Ohshu or OS, is an interstellar federation of around 1800 star systems that include humans, Halfen, and Starkind systems. Its form of government is rule by judges, with an associated parliamentary system that meets for several weeks about once every Earth year. It was founded in 2237.

Etymology

The name is Halfen and literally means "the stars ruled by judges". "Ohlakhira" is the source of the Maasai word "olakira", meaning "star" or "stars". "Shufteim" is the source of the Hebrew word שופטים (shoftim), and refers to rule by judges.

Member systems

The OS consists of over 1800 star systems, with the majority being part of the Manosya Confederation. A full list can be seen here.

OS Standard

The OS Standard (OSS) time measurements are as follows. OS Standard was adopted on 1 January 2237, the first official day of the newly-established Ohlakhira Shufteim.

• Year – Thirteen months of 29 days each, for a total of 378 days.

Organizations

The OS operates the following organizations:

• Interstellar Cataloguing and Exploration Service (ICES) – Explores new wormholes as they are discovered, catalogues the contents of the star system, and provides reports regarding the viability of colonization opportunities.
• Ohlakhira Shufteim Marine Corps (OSMC) – Expeditionary military force of the OS.
