Saoirse Watanabe

Saoirse Watanabe is mostly human and the mother of Adele Watanabe, the protagonist of Hemelein Discovery. She was a Lieutenant Colonel in ICES at the time of her disappearance.

Physical Description

Saoirse was slim and a little shorter than average, with smooth dark hair that was just starting to get silver streaks, porcelain-perfect skin (that she disliked because of its tendency to sunburn), and vibrant blue-green eyes.

Saoirse has mainly Irish ancestry, with some Halfen several generations back.

Personality

At the time of her disappearance, Saoirse made up for any lack in height with her fiery personality--quick-thinking, quick to laugh and smile, quick to anger, quicker to forgive, and able to care about almost anyone or anything that crossed her path. Saoirse was fiercely devoted to both her family and her career, and the two devotions came into conflict on a fairly regular basis.

Biography

Saoirse was born Saoirse Donegal on 2 February 4075 in Letterkenny, Ireland on Earth. She met Keoni Watanabe on Earth while they were on assignment there with the Interstellar Cataloguing and Exploration Service. They were married on 29 February 4096. After they married, they settled on property owned by Keoni's family on Malumaluakua in the Hana-ka-lau-‘ai system. They have four children: Adele, David, Go, and Junior.

In August of 4120, Saoirse led an exploratory mission to a newly-discovered Goldilocks planet in the ??? system. She, her crew, and the 1876 biologists, geologists, seismologists, climatologists, engineers, surveyors, and so forth were all declared missing after an apparent Kimmalevoi attack.
